Pet Centar International approached us with the problem of having a mobile app that doesn’t meet both business and the user’s expectations. App functionalities were more successful in creating new business problems rather than solving them. Their average rating on the App Store was 2.4 which didn’t inspire enough confidence to potential users.

After understanding business requirements and the current setup we agreed on setting up a design sprint workshop. They couldn’t afford another app update that doesn’t meet user needs. Through the workshop, we aligned on the directions and features that we’d like to validate with users through the series of interviews. Most of our assumptions were confirmed during the test, to start development.

Having comprehended the business prerequisites and evaluated the existing application, both teams concurred that a design sprint workshop was the way forward. Pet Centar needed a reboot – they couldn’t risk yet another app update that missed the mark. The workshop provided an opportunity to align our objectives and identify which features demanded validation. We aimed for a hands-on approach, connecting with users through interviews. This direct feedback loop helped corroborate most of our preliminary assumptions, enabling us to transition confidently into the development phase.

Choosing Flutter Development As A Way To Go

We mutually decided that Flutter would be our go-to platform for the revamped app. Having previously had success with Flutter development, we were confident in its ability to serve Pet Centar's needs. This platform not only ensures smoother maintenance but also expedites future updates. Consequently, a greater portion of the budget can be channeled toward innovative features.

Enhancing User Engagement

Feedback from users revealed a desire for deeper engagement with the app. Previously, the app's sole function for most users was scanning the loyalty code at checkout. But with our latest update, we introduced interactive polls, enabling users to earn extra loyalty points. We didn't stop there. The updated app now provides additional avenues to garner points through referral programs and consent for promotional communication, adding layers of functionality and user engagement.

Reimagining Pet Centar’s loyalty app was not merely about addressing technical flaws; it was about enriching user experience and aligning the app with business goals. By employing a structured design sprint, we were able to transform an underperforming application into a valuable tool for both the business and its users.
